Milleccio is a typical recipe of the Neapolitan tradition: together with chiacchiere and sanguinaccio it is one of the typical sweets of Carnival. Among the Carnival recipes, the “migliaccio” is the one I prefer. This is my grandmother's recipe: she makes the migliaccio without ricotta, I put it among the ingredients, then you do it;) Yesterday afternoon I went to my grandmother and we prepared the milleccio recipe together, she is my source for traditional Neapolitan recipes ehehhehe!
Today for lunch a nice slice of lasagna to celebrate the Carnival and one of migliaccio ... and what more do you want!
How to make the Neapolitan miles
In a thick-bottomed pan pour the milk, water, butter, vanilla bean, zest of 1 lemon and 70 g of sugar.
When the milk has reached a boil, lower the heat, lift the vanilla and the peel of the second lemon and pour in the semolina making it incorporate a little at a time.
Simmer for a few minutes, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon.
Turn off the semolina and let it cool.
Separately, work the eggs with the sugar, add the grated lemon and orange zest, the vanilla essence and the limoncello (and the sifted ricotta if you have decided to use it).
Pour the semolina cream into the egg mixture and mix until it forms a creamy mixture.
Grease and flour a baking tray and pour the mixture into it.
Bake the miles at 180 ° C for about 40 minutes or until it is brown in color.
Let it cool for a couple of hours.
Cut the Migliaccio into slices and serve.
