Whether you have a refined palate or undiscerning taste buds, we can all agree on one thing: pigs in a blanket are delicious! Tapping into this trend, Samuel Adams has teamed up with Chef David Burke to create three unique pigs in a blanket recipes that utilize brews from the Samuel Adams Beers of Summer Variety Pack. These recipes are easy to execute and perfect for summer entertaining.
Notes
Bacon Blue Cheese Dogs with Samuel Adams Boston Lager BBQ Sauce
Samuel Adams Boston Lager Tasting Notes from Samuel Adams Brewer Jennifer Glanville:
• The addition of Boston Lager to this flavorful BBQ sauce brings all of the flavors of savory, sweet and slightly spicy together.
• The caramel and toffee character from the malt adds to the sweetness of honey and brown sugar.
• The beer’s Noble hops, with their distinct notes of spice, pine and citrus, are intense enough to balance the more savory flavors of soy and vinegar as well as the heat of the chili.
Samuel Adams Beers of Summer Pairing:
In addition to Samuel Adams Boston Lager, this dish can be paired with Samuel Adams Blueberry Hill Lager. The blueberry and citrus notes in the beer play nicely with the smokiness of the bacon and richness of the blue cheese.

Treasure Coast Beer Fest
The 2nd Annual Treasure Coast Beer Fest gets underway next Saturday from 1:00pm-5:00pm in downtown Fort Pierce in the covered parking garage centered right behind Ft. Pierce City Hall. Last year was such a success that they have twice the brewers than they did last year. Some of the participating brewers include: Abita, Avery, Bell Haven, Bell’s, Boulder, Brooklyn, Bx Beer Depot, Chimay, Cigar City, Dogfish Head, Florida Beer, Flying Dog, Harpoon, Holy Mackerel, Leinenkugels, Monk in the Trunk, Orange Blossom Pilsner, Oskar Blues, Paulaner, Rogue, Sam Adams, Sierra Nevada, Stone, Terrapin, Twisted Tea, and Yuengling. Back by popular demand are the Treasure Coast Brew Masters and their Kustom Keg on wheels.
If all the great beer wasn't enough the people from Beerworks Charitable Foundation(founded last year from the profits from the 1st Treasure Coast Beer Fest) will be donating this years portions of the proceeds to two local charities: Kate's Hope and Learn to Read of St. Lucie County. So now you can feel good about all the great beer you'll be drinking.
The event has limited tickets, as only 1000 people will be allowed into the event. With the price of the ticket not only do you get admission to the event but you will also receive an exclusive tasting cup. Tickets are on sale now through September 24, 2009, at: Vine & Barley in St. Lucie West, Roy’s Liquor in Ft. Pierce, BJ’s Bar & Grill in Stuart, A Picky Gourmet Supply in Jensen Beach, Great Spirits in Vero Beach, Downtown Produce in Melbourne, Corner Café in Tequesta, BX Beer Depot in Lake Worth, and online for $25 in advance or $30 at the door.
